Process for rimless glasses

Pick a frame style , choose the colour you like and then pick a lens shape you fancy and have us customize the lens shape and size to your favourite frame.

Standard lens shapes
There are 60 standard lens shapes and sizes for EACH rimless lenses to choose from. They have been carefully designed to provide a range of good looking shapes with a balanced ratio of lens width to lens height. Please note the minimum sizes for progressive lenses.

Custom lens shapes
If you feel confident of your design skills, you may submit your own lens shape and we'll scan it into our computerize lens edging machine and have the exact shape and size fitted to your frame of choice, just fill in “the special instruction to the optometrist” just before checkout, and we will custom make your lenses according to your instructions. Please See our 6 Steps in choosing your own custom lens size, and becareful to choose sizes that are in proportion to the shape of the lens, and consult our recommendations on which frame shape suits your particular face.

Multi Focal Lenses
If you have decided to have bifocal or progressive lenses fitted to your rimless frame there is a minimum size of lens that the optometrist can use and in getting the proportions right (we call it the aspect ratio and fitting height) he may change the shape slightly.

Overall width:
You may choose this width yourself or use our standard frames

Bridge size:
This is a fixed dimension of the frame you have chosen, you cannot change this.

Lens width:
You may choose this width yourself or use our standard lens sizes from our list of lens shapes

Lens height
You may choose this width yourself or use our standard lens sizes - Please be careful to choose sizes that are in proportion to the shape of the chosen lens

Temple length
Choose the correct frame with the temple length to suit your face size. There are limited available sizes for your particular frame. Please check our rimless frames.

6 Steps to choose your own custom lens size

1. Measure the width of your existing frame or measure the width of your face.
2. Subtract 5mm from this measurement so your lenses are set in from the frame
3. Note the bridge width of the Rimless frame you have chosen.
4. Subtract the bridge width from the width of your face.
5. Divide this answer by 2 and
6. You now have the maximum width of lenses you can choose.

Example:

1. width of old glasses is 130mm
2. 130 - 5 = 125
3. the bridge width of the frames I like is 19mm
4. 125-19 = 106
5. 106 divided by 2 = 53 mm
6. The maximum width (A) I can choose for my lenses is 53mm
